The SMOK RPM40 was one of the first pod mods to blur the line between a simple pod system and a full-featured vape kit. Part of what made it so flexible was its dual-pod design: one pod for RPM coils, another for Nord coils, both fitting the same device. These SMOK RPM Replacement Pods are the empty pod cartridges that house those coils. Three pods per pack, with coils sold separately. Two options are available: the 4.3mL RPM Standard Pod and the 4.5mL RPM Nord Pod.

Both pods feature a side fill system with a rubber plug, bottom coil installation, and a wide mouthpiece that keeps the draw comfortable for extended sessions. The RPM pod accepts RPM-series coils for a direct-lung or restricted DL experience, while the Nord pod accepts Nord-series coils for a mouth-to-lung draw. Same device, completely different vaping styles depending on which pod is installed.

RPM Pod vs. Nord Pod: Which One to Choose

The choice between the two pods comes down to coil compatibility and vaping style. They are not interchangeable in terms of coils, so picking the right pod determines the entire vaping experience.

RPM Standard Pod (4.3mL)

Accepts RPM-series coils, which are designed for direct-lung and restricted DL vaping. Lower resistance, higher wattage, more vapour production. Best paired with freebase nicotine at 3mg or 6mg. The go-to pod for vapers who want bigger clouds and bolder flavour from the RPM40.

RPM Nord Pod (4.5mL)

Accepts Nord-series coils, which are designed for mouth-to-lung vaping. Higher resistance, lower wattage, tighter draw. The natural pairing for salt nicotine at 20mg. Ideal for vapers who prefer a cigarette-style draw with smooth nicotine delivery.

Both pods fit the RPM40 identically. The only physical difference is the coil socket at the bottom, which is sized for each respective coil family. Keeping one of each pod type on hand allows switching between DL and MTL on the same device in seconds.

Side Fill and Coil Installation

Both RPM pods use a rubber plug on the side of the pod for filling. Pull the plug open, insert the e-liquid bottle tip, fill to the line, and press the plug back into place. The side placement keeps the mouthpiece clean during refills and makes one-handed filling easier than top-fill designs.

Coils install from the bottom. Remove the pod from the device, push the old coil out, and press the new coil in until it seats firmly. No threading is involved. After installing a fresh coil, fill the pod and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the cotton to saturate before the first puff.

How do you install coils in SMOK RPM Replacement Pods?
Remove the pod from the RPM40 device. On the bottom of the pod, push the old coil out (or if it is a new pod, the coil socket will be empty). Take the new coil and press it firmly into the bottom socket until it clicks into place. Fill the pod with e-liquid and allow 5 to 10 minutes for the cotton to saturate before vaping.
Can RPM coils be used in the Nord pod, or Nord coils in the RPM pod?
No. The coil sockets are different sizes. RPM coils only fit the RPM Standard Pod, and Nord coils only fit the RPM Nord Pod. Attempting to force the wrong coil into a pod will not work and could damage the pod or coil.
How long do SMOK RPM Replacement Pods last?
The pod itself can last through multiple coil changes, typically 2 to 4 weeks or longer depending on care. When flavour starts to taste muted or off even with a fresh coil, it is time to replace the pod. The coils inside the pods are usually the first component to wear out, lasting 1 to 2 weeks each depending on usage and e-liquid sweetness.
What e-liquid is best for SMOK RPM Replacement Pods?
For the RPM Standard Pod with RPM coils, freebase nicotine at 3mg or 6mg in a 70VG/30PG ratio works well for direct-lung vaping. For the RPM Nord Pod with Nord coils, salt nicotine at 20mg in a 50VG/50PG ratio is the ideal pairing for mouth-to-lung use. Matching the e-liquid type and ratio to the pod and coil prevents wicking issues and ensures the best experience.
How do you refill SMOK RPM Replacement Pods?
Locate the rubber plug on the side of the pod. Pull it open to expose the fill port. Insert the e-liquid bottle nozzle and fill to the indicated line. Do not overfill, as this can cause leaking or gurgling. Press the plug firmly back into place to seal the pod. The side fill design keeps the mouthpiece area clean during refills.
